Market Profile Initial Balance Trade

Entry Logic

  • Entry is a long position when the price breaks out above the initial balance (the first hour's range) to the upside.
  • Confirmation is a high-volume breakout.
  • Timeframe is the 30-minute chart.
  • Location is at the top of the initial balance.
  • Market is expected to be a trend day.

Exit Logic

  • Profit target is a 2x extension of the initial balance range.
  • Do not scale out.
  • Trail the stop loss below the low of the breakout bar.
  • Exit if the price closes back inside the initial balance.
  • Exit on a bearish reversal pattern.
  • Exit if the price does not move up within 3 bars.
  • Exit if buying momentum stalls.

Stop Loss Structure

  • Hard stop is placed below the low of the breakout bar.
  • Soft stop is a close back inside the initial balance.
  • Maximum dollar loss is $350 per trade.
  • Maximum percent loss is 3.5% of the account.
