How this is calculated

Premarket and after-hours sessions typically have far fewer participants than the 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET regular session, which tends to widen bid-ask spreads and thin out order book depth.
The spread figures you enter are numbers you observed yourself, not pulled from live data. Check your broker's actual quote screen immediately before trading.
A wider spread means you effectively pay more to enter and more to exit, on top of any commission, since a market order crosses the full width of that spread.
This estimates spread cost only. It does not account for the added risk of thin volume, a price moving sharply through your level with no one on the other side, or reduced circuit-breaker protection during these sessions.
