How this is calculated

Futures brokers generally require far more margin per contract to hold a position overnight than to day trade it, since the intraday margin only covers exposure while the exchange is open and your broker is watching the position.
This divides your available equity by the overnight margin per contract and rounds down, so you're not left needing more margin than you actually have.
If you also enter your day-trading margin, this shows how many more contracts that lets you carry intraday than you can actually hold past the close.
Margin requirements change with volatility and vary by broker and exchange. Confirm your current overnight margin requirement directly with your broker before you rely on this number.
