Are social media stock tips always bad?

No. The source of an idea matters less than whether the trade survives your own independent criteria for size, stop-loss, and reasoning before you act on it.

Should I trade a stock I just saw hyped on social media?

Q: Should I trade a stock I just saw hyped on social media?

Check whether you've independently verified the setup, know the actual reason for the move, are sizing it normally, have a stop planned, would still want the trade without the post, and aren't acting out of fear of missing out. More checked statements support trading it on your own terms.

How this is calculated

Each checked statement is one point out of 6. A score of 5 or 6 reads as clear to trade on your own terms. A score of 3 or 4 reads as slow down first. A score of 2 or fewer reads as skip this one for now.
Social media, chat rooms, and forums surface legitimate setups sometimes. The issue is rarely the source itself. It's trading someone else's excitement with your own capital, without your own criteria attached to it.
A tip that survives your own checklist is just a trade idea, evaluated the same way any other idea would be. A tip that only survives because of the hype is a different kind of trade entirely.
This checklist cannot tell you whether the stock will move the way the post suggested. It only checks whether your own process is intact before you act on someone else's find.
