How this is calculated

  • Most retail forex brokers mark the end of the trading day, and apply the overnight rollover/swap charge, at 5:00 PM New York time. This tool reads your device clock, converts it to New York time using your browser's own timezone database, and counts down to that mark. Because it uses your browser's timezone data instead of a fixed UTC offset, it adjusts for New York's daylight saving changes on its own.
  • To account for weekend settlement, most brokers charge triple the normal swap on one night a week, commonly Wednesday. This tool flags the upcoming cutoff as the triple-swap night when it falls on a Wednesday in New York time, but confirm your own broker's actual day, it isn't always Wednesday.
  • Friday's 5:00 PM ET mark is the weekly market close, not a new rollover charge. A position still open at that point carries weekend risk, but the extra financing for the Saturday/Sunday gap is what Wednesday's triple swap already covers, so this tool labels Friday's mark separately rather than as a fourth charge.
  • From Friday's 5:00 PM ET close until Sunday's 5:00 PM ET reopen, spot forex isn't trading, so there's no rollover to count down to. This tool shows the time remaining until that Sunday reopen instead.
  • This is a scheduling reference, not a trading signal or a swap-cost estimate. For the actual dollar cost of holding a position overnight, use the swap calculator linked below.
Risk & liability disclaimer: This calculator produces a mathematical estimate based on the numbers you enter, not live market data or your actual broker's swap and rollover schedule. Swap rates change with interest rate differentials and broker policy, and this tool does not pull or refresh rates automatically.
